European Platform of Women Scientists (EPWS)


In 2007 BASNET as FP6 project became a full conditional member of EPWS the prestigious European women scientist‘s organisation, gaining the opportunity to influence European Science policy. 16 March 2009 BASNET Forumas Association was accepted by EPWS Administrative Board accepted as an EPWS Full Member. BANET Forumas president Assoc. Prof. Dalia Šatkovskienė is elected EPWS Administrative Board member.

BASNET Forumas is active member of EPWS:


  • BASNET Forumas took active part in organizing the second annual EPWS Assembly and the annual Conference “Women Shaping Science“ in Vilnius (5-7 of June 2008);
  • BASNET Forumas is participating in work of EPWS standing committees devoted to monitoring the science policy debate, promoting of women scientists and structural reinforcement;
  • BASNET Forumas initiated and is working on the question for European Parliament about EPWS sustainability; it made a lot for advertising EPWS and its tasks and purposes in various international meetings and conferences etc.
  • 31 of January 2012 BASNET Forumas together with EPWS organized a Lunch-Debate “Towards a Gender-Balanced Science Culture to Foster Innovation “. The event was held in the European Parliament and hosted by MEP from Lithuania Leonidas Donskis.
  • 6 of September 2017 BASNET Forumas in Brussels in the European Parliament organized conference "From Resolution to Realization: The Impact of the European Parliament Resolution of 9.9.2015 on Women's Careers in Science and University". The event was hosted by MEP from Lithuania Mrs. Laima Andrikienė.
  • BASNET Forumas made a lot for advertising EPWS and its tasks and purposes in various international meetings and conferences etc.

Other Networks


BASNET Forumas is collaborating also with other networks, associations and professional societies such as: Polish Physical Society (PPS), International Union of Applied and Pure Physics (IUPAP) women working group network Women in Physics”,  American Physical Society (APS) and newly established by Horizon 2020 project GENERA European network of physicists for promotion of gender equality in organizations preforming physics research.
